I thought I was in trouble but then suddenly I knew where every letter but one had to be from previous guesses and it was easy. It's nice when it falls into place.

Does anyone else playing Wordle always start out with the same guess? What's your starting word? Mine right now is "Snake". I feel like things are likely to end in an "s" and it goes ahead and knocks out two common vowels.

In front of my house is a bike path and on it is a public bike stand with a pump and some basic tools. Earlier as I walked the dog someone standing at the pump said in frustration "air won't stay in this tire, you can just have this crappy bike!" Conveniently I work as a bike mechanic and someone local had recently given me a box of spare tubes that they thought I might be able to use. They don't fit any of my bikes, but they are the right size for this guys bike. He was very happy.

I am less lucky today.

As always, I am tired of being the last person to hear about some random meme or cultural thing. The other day it was crabs, now suddenly everyone is pasting colored grids and I had no idea what they meant. Finally looked it up, and I admit it was pretty fun. I still have no idea how anyone finds out about this stuff in the first place, but at least now I know.

Me (a 31 year old who has spent time working in information security): "how can I disable the cellular modem in this car? Is it on a separate fuse to <important things>?"
Reddit: dozens of replies that don't answer the question but all say some variation of "you are old, why should anyone care about the company being able to remotely start/disable/update your car?"

Heist movie idea: a bunch of hardened criminal types rob the British Museum and escape. While the cops look for the stolen items on the black market or wait for ransom demands, they eventually discover that the artifacts have just been repatriated to the countries they were stolen from. The sequel is a political thriller about the international incident that results when Britain demands "their" artifacts back.

What would you call a cooperative Lemmy (forums/link sharing) instance? I am bad at naming things.

XMPP based social networks do this a lot better (one central account I control, lots of different front-ends that all show data and connections differently), but they don't do authorization well (you have to type your username and password into every separately website and give them access to every other sites posts, messages, etc.)
