On this thread, I'll share news from the @mayfirst annual meeting. #Socialcoop is a May First member, so this is relevant to all #Socialcoop members.
I'm in the meeting alongside #Socialcoop members @sam @mike_hales.
@Matt_Noyes is on the ballot for the @mayfirst board: https://vote.mayfirst.org/nominations/2024
And our own @jamiem is a staff and board member at MFMT as well.
The membership voted to allow the board vote to happen asynchronously over the next week.
The board has also decided to declare @mayfirst an Apartheid-Free Zone.

The @mayfirst board has also clarified the procedures in our bylaws for admitting and removing members: https://vote.mayfirst.org/node/281
The @mayfirst finances are in a much stronger place than past years thanks to changes to the dues structure that we passed last year. This expects members to pay dues that better reflect their resource usage.
We are getting closer to just wages for our workers.
We are also in the process of changing the @mayfirst backend infrastructure. This will shift from relying on a series of distinct servers toward a cluster of networked servers managed together. The new system will be better equipped for managing variable usage and addressing DDoS attacks.

If you have questions, ask @jamiem
I just want to conclude by sharing how beautiful it is to see governance taking place in this radical, bilingual, deeply grounded digital cooperative. I am so grateful to be a member both personally and through #Socialcoop. If you're not a member of @mayfirst for your personal or organizational needs, please consider becoming one.
@Matt_Noyes @mayfirst Sure thing. I will take the liberty of voting for you for the board with our cooperative's ballot.
