I'm reminded of something David Graeber said:
"One thing that I’ve learned in academia is no one much cares what your politics are as long as you don’t do anything about them. You can espouse the most radical positions imaginable, as long as you’re willing to be a hypocrite about them."
@nicksellen I have experienced that. The interesting thing is that what is not tolerated is action that threatens their authority, control, and material interests. So you can be true to your positions, even take action, as long as doing so does not threaten them on that level. This is one reason democratic unions are so important.
