I feel this is kind of like Beyoncé pre and post 2013—her songs on her self-titled album, and since then, have had this really genuine sexiness that her previous work just didn't. A divide between "this is what people think is sexy" and "this is what's sexy to *me*."

The emotional vulnerability that comes along with it makes it so much *more*…more, I guess, than more explicit but shallower pop/R&B.
