An interesting and valuable resource: Church Clarity, a US organization pushing for transparency in church policies - starting with restrictions or lack thereof on LGBTQ participation.

Find out which churches baptize, marry, ordain, and hire LGBTQ ppl, and how open they are about it. You can also add to their database: churchclarity.org/

@nev If you are in Canada, the largest Protestant denomination, the United Church of Canada allowed openly gay ministers in 1988, and lobbied the government in favour of gay marriage.

They also have special status for churches that can prove they are actively welcoming to LGBT people. There is a vetting processes, though I left the church years ago so have just heard my parents mention it. Takes multiple years though.

@Canageek the Anglican church is affirming as well, AFAIK. But Church Clarity scores are more granular, going by individual church policies rather than denomination.

@Canageek yes! There are a few entries so far.

@nev The Anglican Church of Canada is, I think. The almost merged with the United Church at one point. I know they are not worldwide.
