Whee! Learned how to copy multiple files, each in their own folder, up one level (to the current working directory). E. g.
cp Folder0$/*.pdf .
"$" is a wildcard for one character
* is a wildcard for any number of characters
. is current directory
Small, but I'm proud of myself for taking the time to look it up instead of doing it by hand. #linux #bash
@feld someone just pointed out to me it was a typo!
OH SHIT Y'ALL THAT WAS A TYPO
"?" is the single character wildcard
I repeat, "?"
If you use the dollar sign idk your computer will blow up or something!!!
I'm sorry about any computers that have blown up in the interim. I was off taking pictures of house spider's
SPIDERS DAMMIT
@nev I USED $ AS A WILDCARD AND NOW THERE ARE SPIDER'S IN MY COMPUTER
@nev In my understanding, the $ dereferences a variable, and as what follows is not a variable, I think you can rest easy.
@nev for some reason the ? wildcard is somehow much less well known than *
@nev good on ye! and thanks for sharing :3
