OK I GOTTA FUCKING RANT ABOUT UNIQLO AND MUJI FOR A MOMENT (inspired by @afabulous)
Like I understand why you want to adjust your offerings to your typical market but whY ARE THESE JAPANESE BRANDS COMING OVER HERE AND ONLY OFFERING THEIR CLOTHES IN HUGE-ASS NORTH AMERICAN SIZES
BITCH I WANT TINY CLOTHES
Whenever girls on /r/asktransgender are like "how do women's clothing sizes work" I'm like "okay measure your inseam waist bust hips and write it down on a piece of paper.
"then TEAR THE PAPER INTO TINY BITS and SET IT ON FIRE because WOMEN'S CLOTHING SIZES ARE A CLUSTERFUCK just try shit on and size up or down as needed"
This happens with men's clothes too, but the other way round, because god forbid you tell a man he's small e_e
e. g. I might be a men's 28 and a women's 24, shit is wild

@nev I found a men's XS shirt one time and it was like a goddamn unicorn. At least the current trend is towards slimmer/skinny fit for younger guys.
@afabulous American Apparel had small unisex clothes but 1) they're like gone now?? and 2) creeeeeeepyyyyyy
@nev I found out that Old Navy boy's large button-up shirts fit me perfectly so now I own 10 of them. Hey, if you live in such a diverse city isn't there a Chinatown or something you can shop at?
@afabulous i find boys' clothes are too short in the arms and big around in the torso, and i still have too much junk in ye olde trunke for boys' pants
there are several chinatowns but the ones that would carry clothes in my size are too far away
@nev yeah, the arm length is often less than ideal. Lately I've had a harder time finding shirts that fit my shoulders, since they've filled out from taking T. Obviously, the solution is to move somewhere tropical where I never have to wear a shirt.
@nev Absolutely right with women's clothes. You can't even stick to the same size in one store unless it's selling just one brand.
And invest in a good sewing machine (or prepare to cough up for alterations) if you're shorter than about 5'6", because everything is too long, especially if you have to get bigger sizes.
Except 3/4 or cropped pants and similar. Those might be about the right length.
(I've never learned how to do sleeves, so I have to get those done professional. It $$$.)
I have tried wearing clothes-- usually pants of jackets-- in the same size, in the same style, from the same company, from the same STORE, and they have been wildly different sizes. (Like, an inch or more difference in length on the arms/legs.) Never trust "women's clothing" sizes! It's a trap!
@MariBari with cheaper clothes, they make them by cutting many layers of fabric at once - so there's distortion within the batch
@nev never so much truth have i heard I am weeping.
there used to be a store near me, they moved, that specialized in short men's clothes. "Brown's: A Short Men's World." I would just go all out and be like CLOTHES FOR TINY-ASS MEN
