Today when explaining open source and free software for the first time to a student, I also had to explain that Richard Stallman is NOT safe and any organization that hosts him is also not safe.
It pains me that so many organizations enabled Stallman for so long, more interested in protecting abusers than advancing software freedom.
The Free Software movement didn't have to be Omelas, and many good people fought for it to be better, but that's what the FSF chose.
@natematias I had one brief interaction years ago when I was trying to donate some code to the GNU Project. He took umbrage with the fact that I didn't refer to it as "GNU/Linux", and spent the rest of our correspondence hectoring me about it, at which point, I had soured on the idea completely. Again, not anywhere near the worst RMS has had to offer over the years, but finding a worse representative of FOSS and its principles would have taken real effort.
@klausfiend @natematias Eric Raymond is still slithering around someplace.
@kentenmakto @natematias Yeah he just kinda went feral. That was also a big disappointment.
@natematias Thanks for fighting the good fight and spreading the word. The more people are aware of his actions, the less they'll accept him and his enablers.
@natematias Thank you, met him briefly when I was 17 and he came to talk to my college class on computer ethics. Got a bad hit then and it’s only been confirmed through the years.
@natematias He toots a lot of woke and globalist climate change agenda stuff here on mastodon. I believe he is compelled to toe the party line because of his own compromised position. It is possible many others who promote globalist rubbish are similarly compromised.
The same tools have been used to sell war (military industrial complex), vaccines (look into the early yeas of Hep-B and how the trials correlate with AIDS outbreaks were tested), climate change (previously global warming and before that ice age is coming).
Ping @kiwix you're guilty of this and unrepentant.
@natematias@social.coop Wake up honey, it's time for the daily schizo posting
