@mattcropp @TheScienceRobot It would be cool to have some emojis to represent agree, disagree, abstain and block so that people can do basic straw polling on Masto itself.

@kawaiipunk @TheScienceRobot How do you envision that working? I could see it in an environment like Slack where you can "emoji react" to things where each react is counted by the system, but here it would still be embedded in a textual response.

Now, if only that "block" hand were red and/or had a red "X" behind it or in its palm to make it clearer...

(I think in color, thus am a fan of color coding things)

... And if thumbs up had some kind of green element (ex: background? hand itself? green checkmark behind?), and the thumbs down were a deeper orange..
Yeah..
I think I just need to get to a computer and make some of these.

@TheScienceRobot @mattcropp all this sounds awesomeee 😁

I believe those colours are internationally recognised? I wonder if there are any additional accessibility concerns for example for visually impaired users.

@kawaiipunk
I think since custom emoji are images and not actual unicode like the standard ones (?), if the emoji image included the appropriate shortcode label info, such as " : block vote : " , " : agree vote : " , " : disagree vote : " , then most screen readers should be able to recognize it... BUT the icon itself won't federate, if I understand correctly.*

*somebody in the know able to correct / clarify ?

@kawaiipunk @mattcropp Found more info on the accessibility part. At least for mac screen readers, going for camel case is more useful (i.e. : TwinPines : instead of : Twin_Pines :, where the underscore is read out)
