One of the regulators of our shared civic life was shame. Which seems to have mostly disappeared in certain classes/segments of society.

Remarks
Loyalty is either a two way system, or not present, whatsoever.
Anyone still engaging in loyalty to a company is an imbecile.
Your ONLY real assets are the PEOPLE who will stick with you; EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FAIL. Machines break down. Comms systems break down. Bureaucratic systems break down. The PEOPLE you take care of, however, will take care of you. If they do NOT, when need presents itself, then you immediately stop taking care of them, forever.
Once, I was told by an immediate supervisor that I "engage in too much 'emotional ownership' (...) of projects and subordinated personnel"
I put him in the potential black list of "not work for that person, ever again"
