@loppear @mattcropp and oh so much i never wrote about too. But i stuck to the borders, i never ventured into the middle due to lack of time. i also loved Riot Bayit in Boston, Compersia in DC & Wild Mountain Co-op ME. Truth or Consequences, what a great name! I can make no community-focused mid-west recommendations, but I can recommend reading 'Hinterland' by Phil A. Neel for the flip side. Good luck 🙂
@tbeckett @GuerillaOntologist a few years ago, the UK's Alex Bird of consultancy.coop proposed 3 additional coop principles, one of which was a max pay ratio of 1:7. At the time I was shocked by what I perceived to be the lack of ambition towards equal pay... Now, disappointingly, I understand the extent of the capitalist compromise.

“Just 100 companies responsible for 71% of global emissions, study says“
There is a hard limit to how much of an effect lifestyle changes alone can have. https://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2017/jul/10/100-fossil-fuel-companies-investors-responsible-71-global-emissions-cdp-study-climate-change
@nicksellen hey there, i'm sure Cornerstoners will be happy to have you again, I'll email them to check. There's a bunch of interesting infrastructural food stuff in Leeds, and you might want to hook up with @Graham_Mitchell who's a bit further to the west of West Yorks. Thanks @douginamug for drawing my attention 🙂
I've been trying to plan a little UK co-op hitchhiking tour, better start this week!
Will start in Glasgow and slowly make my way down south. Looking for sofas/floors to sleep on and co-ops to visit of any kind, but especially digital-y/software ones...
Would like to talk about saving food (esp. with https://karrot.world), web hosting, platform co-ops, volunteers, grassroots, open source, CoTech, social.coop, etc...
Should start in the next couple of days. Lemme know if I should swing by!
@mattcropp loving the local food networks in #BTV, esp Diggers Mirth collective farm and lovely Ms Wienerz revolutionary doughnuts. Pls pass on hugs to #Minneapolis #coops - i esp recommend Hard Times cafe, Equal Exchange and Shared Capital - if you can, get a copy of the history of the North Country Coop - an eye-opening account of the Coop Wars in the Twin Cities & much food for thought. http://www.radicalrootsfilm.com
@emi I had a conversation with Bill Patrie in North Dakota where he referred to some research which might be relevant, i'll ping him and ask if he can dig it out.
@vfrmedia thanks Alex, much appreciated! doh.

how many generations before we get to an ecologically sustainable gift economy? #learntocooperate
social.coop is a cooperatively-run corner of the Fediverse. The instance is democratically governed by its members, who generally share an interest in the co-op model, but topics of discussion range widely.
Our instance is supported by sliding scale contributions of $1-10/mo made via Open Collective. You must have an active Open Collective account to apply for membership; you may set one up here
