we're not just looking to be offended; we actually have lives and legitimately wish we could just live them without harassment. and sadly the only way this will happen is if cis people start to actually think about the consequences of their actions on other people and listen to marginalized people.

splintering should be a last resort when conflict resolution fails. but when people are belittling us and joking about how we call everything abuse, what resolution is possible?

@kittybecca Thank you for these posts. I've been trying to get at the specific concerns that have been raised over hashtags and trending topics. You've spelled it out beautifully.

I can easily project these same problems you cite on Twitter into a larger Mastodon. We are not some special collection of evolved humans.

Anyone who wants this platform to grow needs to think about these issues.

@kittybecca I don't know how dropping the T makes sense anyway since the event that pretty much everyone agrees is the symbolic starting point of the movement to not be forced into hiding was, you know... started by a trans woman of color.
