I'm apartment hunting and I really like this one that is in a cool old building. However, this building also happens to be a URM - Unreinforced Masonry Building. This means that the building may sustain major damage or collapse in the case of an earthquake. There is a 37% chance of a major earthquake occurring in the next 50 years in Portland, meaning there is about a 0.75% chance of one occurring in the year that I live there... Do I still go for it?

In the dream I walked by it one night when there was a show going on and there was a reporter outside talking about how lit the concert was. So it must have been pretty crazy. I wouldn't know though, since I woke up right before I went in.

I had a last night that I lived near this warehouse that was an underground concert venue called "Party Island". I don't think it meant anything but it was pretty exciting compared to my usual dreamless slumber.

Happy 🎂 birthday 🎂 ! 🎂 I’m glad I get to be a part of this awesome community.

I slept in too late to keep up with all you EDT tooters. 😴

Hey people - particularly those interested in monetarily in the economy - I want to start a cooperative investment club in our city, because as far as I can tell, none exists here yet.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, get in touch with me. So far it’s just me and @christianbundy. I’d like to get a group of ~5 people together for an initial meeting at some point in the next month or two if possible.

These days I'm always on the lookout for ways to shed all the complexity that I've added to my life over the years. Delete extraneous apps popping up constant notifications, discard and donate unnecessary things cluttering my space, cut down on the noise.

Sometimes the only response I can muster is to take a deep breath and look forward to the next chance I'll get to take a bike ride or go for a walk.

Too many things I don't know, too many things to learn, too many factors to consider, not enough hours in the day.

I feel consistently overwhelmed by the complexity of modern life.

A keen observation by @masu yesterday: hiking and camping, though "back to nature" activities, really require having a car.

There's a hike I want to do in an old forest. It's about 2h away by train/bus, but the bus only comes every 2 hours or less. If you miss the bus you're stranded in a tiny town with no hotels. Taxi service is sparse.

So really we need a car chugging out carbon to enjoy a forest.

Turns out that if you try to put all the peels and innards of two whole butternut squashes down your garbage disposal, it clogs your sink 🤷🏼‍♂️
