Theory:

Google is deliberately making recaptcha tasks harder for Firefox users.

@gdorn my take: they're getting harder for everyone that's not passing them by browser tracking, because bots are getting better at OCR, and they're trying to train more advanced AIs with the results.

A disproprotionate of recaptcha users who don't have browser tracking turned on are firefox users.

@emsenn Yeah, probably true. Also probably true that even if I have the same anti-tracking addons running on Chrome, Chrome is bypassing them to some degree for $GOOG domains.

@gdorn My guess is Chrome does some "is this a human user?" internals that it probably passes on even if it's not "tracking" you on external servers - and "this client is a human" is still a valuable disclosure.
