uk pol, all tories are bastards
stories of Tory corruption are now so common i'm having to batch them up
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/sep/01/hancock-accused-of-favouring-tory-areas-with-covid-lockdown-changes-in-england - apparently you're somehow magically covid-proof if your MP or councillors are Tories
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/aug/31/tory-plans-to-scrap-election-watchdog-undermines-democracy - pretty much the one body that everyone trusts in UK elections, so of course the Tories want to scrap it
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/aug/31/boris-johnson-ally-simon-case-poised-to-be-named-head-of-civil-service - civil service neutrality? never heard of it...
even the best tories are the worst
Can we please, please – PLEASE! not make the nonsensical US date format month/day/year the default in applications? 🤦♂️
PRE 👏 TTY 👏 PLEASE
And to all users of that format: it makes no sense, it's counter-intuitive, it makes collaboration frustrating, it introduces inconsistencies and errors... Just stop. Please. Use international standards.
(And don't get me started on your other units of weights, volumes and distances. Bloody hell.)
Boost if I'm right.
Next up in my 'What if X were real?' series, I explore the question, 'What if the Paw Patrol was real?' Really getting to grips with the ethical and legal implications of letting a ten year-old and his dogs run a town's emergency services.
'No, you don't get it, he also has a secret hideout and a big car goes *vroom, vrooom*!' Give me strength.
For about forty years, every take on this character has been based in the question 'WHat would it take for someone to become Batman *in real liufe?????*' to which the only possible answer is 'That could absolutely never happen. Only an idiot would entertain this idea for longer than 5 seconds. He is a man who dresses up as a bat and punches a clown. He is basically a circus character'.

Preferrably some nice co-op-y/non-scummy EU based company, or something like that...
@frankpodmore An embarrassing span of my existence was spent thinking that politics were not "for me." I would avoid debates amongst friends and family, and skip past news I deemed "too political." But recently it all finally clicked for me, politics are not only "for" everyone, they _are_ everyone. Armed with this realization, I'm desperately re-educating myself, opening my eyes where I had formerly kept them shut.
People often come out with this particular idea, something like 'Most people don't think about politics much'. But what they mean is 'People don't think about *political parties* very much'. When 'politics' is defined to mean things like, 'Will my kid get a good education?', 'Will I ever be able to retire?', 'When will I get a pay rise?', then you see that people think about it pretty much all the time.
Right wing terrorism is the most lethal form of terrorism right now.
Right wing demagogues are in power all over the world.
RIght wing people think the main threat to liberty/democracy is student debating societies not inviting them to parties.
What really fucks me off about the rightwing in the US is that they've spent years wanking themselves into a fury over the idea that the federal government is going to overreach its power, usurp demoracy and move the military against citizens, and now that is actually happening, they're nowhere to be seen. Cowards.
In an infinite universe, even very improbable things may be found somewhere.
Also, someone wrote an article explaining why Bitcoin is an ally to the socialist project.
The article was an open letter from Ben Arc, addressed to Yanis Varoufakis. Varoufakis responded with a devastating critique.
