I played this with a friend today in Akihabara: [[typing of the dead]].
It's honestly a lot of fun.
@flancian Here's an alt-text description of the image:
A beige arcade cabinet for the game "The Typing of the Dead" by Sega is shown. The cabinet's screen displays gameplay showing a zombie scene. Two beige keyboards are attached to the bottom of the cabinet. A hand holds a third keyboard above the cabinet's marquee. A small red sign with Japanese characters is on the wall behind the cabinet. The marquee shows the game title and artwork.

@flancian I love this game. Had no idea there’s an arcade cabinet
@sky I had never seen it before! The keyboards were Dreamcast branded :)
@flancian From what I can tell it runs on the Naomi board, which is essentially just a Dreamcast, so that makes total sense. I'd love to have one of those but I imagine they cost a fortune lol
@flancian shit I love that game
@flancian it is *honestly* better than the original in every way
There's a remaster of this for PC on Steam. It's definitely worth it, even if it makes you type "Ukrainian mayonnaise" in stressful situations.

@julie Typing of the Dead Overkill is its own thing. The original Typing of the Dead is House of the Dead 2 with keyboards and Dreamcasts strapped on like backpacks. Both good.
Oh, I must have misunderstood! I thought Overkill was a remake of 2. My bad.
TotD: Overkill is still worth a playthrough for sure.
