Hi @lightone there's a new cool site for the selection of #fediverse instances, that I didn't know of before.
Maybe a good candidate for inclusion on @fediverseparty if it wasn't mentioned yet.
@humanetech Hi! Instances.social is the oldest instance picker, created and maintained by the admin of my Mastodon server :) I think it appeared even before Joinmastodon.org picker. The link to it used to be on fediverse.party, but at some point I removed it. TheKinrar mentioned the service might be closed in the future. I now returned it to /Mastodon website's page (at the bottom, Server lists).
There's a Wiki list of such services, I've updated it now:
https://git.feneas.org/feneas/fediverse/-/wikis/instance-monitoring-sites
@lightone @humanetech just so you know, I don't plan to close instances.social anymore
And I can confirm it came way before joinmastodon.org, I believe I created it on the first or second of April 2017
Aha, thank you 🙏
Finding resources fedi-related is a general issue. I've pointed a gazillion times to the watchlists that are input to https://fediverse.party and gazillion + 1 times to https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks often to the delight of fedizens all asking the same questions over and over again.
We might have some @infobot that you can ask keywords, followed with "please".
@infobot fediverse instances please
[returns description, list of tracking sites, further keywords]
Maybe this is something that @flancian is interested in..
@humanetech @TheKinrar @lightone indeed! Thank you for the ping -- and sorry for the delay in responding, I've been engaged elsewhere.
1. I'd be happy to run such a bot, and try to have it respond on Twitter also (like [[agora bot]]).
@flancian Hi! Co-run is not quite the word, as fediverse.party development is more like crawling at the moment :) My initial newcomer's wonder has run out a bit, and motivation sometimes lags. @humanetech has helped a lot, by appearing out of the blue full of energy and enthusiasm! 🙃 I think contributors (new blood) will do the project a lot of good. In the long run it makes sense to share control responsibility, so that if I'm away everything keeps working/updating.
@lightone @humanetech I'd love to share maintenance burden if you're interested, within my possibilities and following your lead.
@flancian Aha! I was wondering about those [[.]] brackets in your messages. Even went to check if your server runs some special flavour of Mastodon that turns [[.]] into some sort of markup. But this is something different! Fediverse.party is sort of like a Wiki too, in the sense that it tries to aggregate useful links and information about Fedi. Maintenance is mostly about keeping all links up-to-date. So if you see someting's missing or broken, please, don't hesitate to open an issue!
@lightone yes, you can use [[agora ext]] to have those light up -- but I also leave them as anchoring points for further integration, the idea being that everything wikilinked in any supporting platforms will be integrated into the knowledge graph eventually.
@lightone noded: anagora.org/fediverse-party
@lightone @humanetech I'd love to explore [[agora]] - [[fediverse party]] interactions too.
@humanetech @TheKinrar @lightone
2. thank you @@lightone for both https://git.feneas.org/feneas/fediverse/-/wikis/instance-monitoring-sites and https://fediverse.party, amazing resources! You mention you are looking for people to co-run fediverse.party with? What kind of cooperation would you be interested in? @bmann, me and others currently run https://moa.party following a loose cooperative model, although we are just getting started.
