A new bot is born, this time posting pieces of the moon @MoonSquares
@MoonSquares I’m making these bots using the excellent R Mastodon library because I just code everything in R if I can possibly get away with it https://github.com/ThomasChln/mastodon/blob/master/README.md
@ozjimbob @MoonSquares I have tried to get into R three times, (when I get some new data analysis task that I don't have a library for, so possibly not the best times).
Average less than 2 days, before I give up and code what I had to do in Python or Java instead. Next time it might stick.
Have a colleague at work who is sticking with R for data analysis stuff so have someone to bounce questions off
@merospit @MoonSquares well, use whatever you’re most comfortable and productive in, I reckon. I get a bit weary of the Python vs. R fights that some people get involved in (although I can’t imagine doing data analysis in Java, that language frightens me).
@ozjimbob @MoonSquares I don't like fights about languages. I prefer to know many languages and pick the one I want to use today. Java and Python were my first languages at uni many years ago, so they don't take any effort to use, even for data analysis
@ericmoritz @ozjimbob A claw hammer? j/k
@ericmoritz @ozjimbob I like the flexibility of being able to rip things to shreds and put them back together again with the same tool
