Maurer said he was assigned to develop #drugs based on the 2009 paper. He told The #Stanford Daily that his superior informed him that “the project is being canceled and it’s because they found falsified #data.”
“I don’t think anyone at Genentech would be interested in this becoming public,” said Maurer, adding that “it’s a dent in the #reputation.”
Another senior scientist said that withdrawing the paper would have been viewed as “sullying Marc’s/Genentech’s reputation.”
