What kind of decentralized services exist could make it possible for someone to stop using Cloudlfare as a CDN?

Lately when election season rolls around I muse about what I would run on as a single-issue candidate. Kinda stuck on building public housing on golf courses.

I asked my friend Jérémy Landes to collaborate on the design of a libre font forked from DejaVu Sans, able to spread like mycelium thanks to the variable technology. It is named “Fungal Sans” and it is available for download at fungal.page (still wip).

hey can anyone out there help me find critical/theoretical writing on hardware modding? (especially on video game hardware, but any kind of consumer modification of industrially-manufactured products would work)

I know that (e.g.) Stephanie Boluk and Patrick Lemieux have studied video game modding from a software perspective, but I don't know anyone studying hardware mods in particular.

(doesn't need to be "academic," just looking for stuff beyond tutorials and enthusiast press)

(boosts ok!)

we need more books like why's guide that disconnect the creative work of programming from capitalist mobility

And now that I've written that I’m realizing the double-ampersand approach would never alert on an error state.

This is the better way:

Something I forgot I have in my macOS dotfiles:
alias DONE="osascript -e 'display notification \"DONE\"'"

As in:
$ [long running command] && DONE

I’ve left the RCA plugs swapped and now I am wondering if anyone would ever notice that L is now R and R is now L. Do you know any records well enough to catch when the channels are swapped?

Today, listening to records, I noticed we were only hearing a single channel of audio. I swapped the RCA plugs and the other side stopped working. Solution: unplugged the needle head and plugged it back in. This was a satisfying and surprising solution I did not expect to work.
