Pinned toot

Um so hi. My name is Diyar and I like tech and stuff. Would be down to join in on projects and do stuff with people. Currently living in London. Still in full time education so I don't have a tonne of time. I am not really interested in making video games but I do enjoy playing them a bit (just got out of silver on CSGO). I run an arch-based distro btw. I am okay at python but down to learn other languages like basic or C too.

For those of you that are looking for a VPN on a phone with no google bs and want only from f-droid, mullvad is pretty cool if you are interested. Payment methods can be very cool, speed is pretty gud, pretty cheap (5 euro a month) and seems pretty secure (as secure as you can consider a vpn to be in this world).

They're weeks late but now I cracked the code

Any good, free, preferably self-hosted alternatives to

Got on the C# train a lil. My head hurts :(

Can we please, please – PLEASE! not make the nonsensical US date format month/day/year the default in applications? 🤦‍♂️

And to all users of that format: it makes no sense, it's counter-intuitive, it makes collaboration frustrating, it introduces inconsistencies and errors... Just stop. Please. Use international standards.
(And don't get me started on your other units of weights, volumes and distances. Bloody hell.)

Boost if I'm right.

@pantransautie @vantablack Go to an interview dressed up and don't wear a tie. If they comment on it, the place isn't worth your time, because they care more about a dress code than they do about performance / skill.

I think these days the equivalent is asking if they do remote, because that tells you if they care more about warm bodies on seats than they care about the performance of their employees, it also tells you a lot about their internal tooling and whether it's worth giving a shit

Using graphene on a used 3a. Got T400 P8600 8GB for school. Life feels good.

Planning on creating a 2D game ran in a terminal that is somewhere between Terraria and Minecraft. Will be a ~18 month project. Any suggestions, tips or concepts will be cool to hear. Already thinking of having multiplayer setup for it and stuff. Want it to be completely free (GPL) and very lightweight. Have been becoming more language agnostic so I am fine with having to learn a new language (high or low)

When you realize google somehow cares more about your freedom than most companies when it comes to the computers they manufacture.

Even if using an FSF endorsed computer woth libreboot and an FSF endorsed distro, I don't think we are even at freedom with computers like the x200, t400, t500 etc. Read this up and now I am terrified.

12 months from now: voluntary #fingerprinting will become compulsory for German and other EU ID cards by 2 August 2021.

Infos, our criticism and what you can do about it:

Happy #SysadminDay to the badasses keeping everything running.

The linux community fight over distros, WM and DE but I think we can all agree on my favourite quote of the month. 'The MacOS DE is a rich man's GNOME'.
