Hello #OpenSource #FOSS comrades. Any suggestions on open source alternatives to Harvest time tracking that you'd recommend. I had used Harvest for years as my main freelancing invoice and time tracking software, but I'd love to use something free and open source if possible.
@denmanrooke Hey, I use Gtimelog https://gtimelog.org/ when I need to track time between projects I do in parralal. But it's probably far of Harvest (I don't know it) if you say it has invoices part of it.
@davidrevoy @denmanrooke There is Ktimetracker from kde But it is only time tracking and not invoicing.
@raghukamath @davidrevoy @denmanrooke there is also Charm from KDAB but unfortunately it's not maintained anymore as an open source project :(
@denmanrooke I've used Timewarrior a bit: https://timewarrior.net/
I love CLI tools, but I find it just a touch too clunky and the argument format is weird in many respects; some people swear by it, though.
I've heard really good stuff about Kimai, if you want a web solution that offers invoices and such: https://www.kimai.org/
I haven't used it, but I know people who do, and they love it (it's apparently not too hard to self-host, either).
@taywee Kimai looks perfect! Thanks so much. That's going to save me the $130 a year I was paying for Harvest.
@denmanrooke For invoicing I use libreoffice. It is not that automatic though. Watching this thread may be some alternative pops up
@raghukamath Kimai seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.
@denmanrooke Thanks this seems good, I will probably give this a trial on localhost this weekend. Thank you. How did you find it?
