@ntnsndr I'm struggling to get into (i.e. understand ) governance. Not that I have tried very hard... I haven't seen an opportunity where it's clearly useful for me to dig in.

I could really use more stories.

Is there a good presentation (video recording) of the organization as a whole?

Is the origin story written down? The story of why the org was created and why it's growing.

@ntnsndr
Are there formative events boiled down to story form? The "should we federate with Facebook's thing?" is the only one that comes to mind.

@ntnsndr and while I saw lots of little pieces of the decision happen, I don't know the overall story arc.

I don't even know what the decision was, where it's recorded, nor the governance structure through which it emerged.

The analog of the "I'm just a bill..." song but not for U.S. legislation but for decisions.

@ntnsndr yes... let's see... origin story: check:
> Social.coop was founded in 2017 in the wake of the BuyTwitter campaign.

I think I learned that at some point but forgot.

@ntnsndr What does TKTK DATE mean? that the wiki page has the text of the agreement but the executed agreement is elsewhere?

@ntnsndr I think part of my struggle was a vaguely negative impression of loomio.

I think I ran into "access denied" many times... I think because I had let something lapse.

Anyway... that seems sorted now.

The daily email digests are pretty overwhelming, though.

@ntnsndr Is there a way to participate *in between* just being a user of the hosted fediverse server and reading every message on loomio?

Any recommended way to get up to speed on current events?

I was kinda impressed when I learned that Maker DAO puts explicit resources into outreach to its voters.

@dckc great point. We are currently moving toward a more focused governance model. But still, our model is pretty centered on assuming people will step up and participate. We should be more intentional about guiding members' attention. (I am writing a paper on that now!)

Now I think we are caught in a trap where the leaders are the people who stepped up to lead, and they don't sympathize enough with those who haven't similarly stepped up.

@dckc part of me would like to try building a lower touch fediverse coop.

@ntnsndr dunno if it's a trap... Maybe just a natural stage of growth.

@ntnsndr does social.coop have any regular rhythms? Weekly / monthly get-togethers?

I see a diagram with a future section with office hours and quarterly meetings. Is that future here at all yet?
