Theres a lot of knowledgeable people who are very happy to take the time to share stuff /teach all kinds of subjects. I've pretty much always found someone/somewhere to get info/advice. Quality can be poor thru to excellent , not quite the quality control that exists in academia - although quality in academia not a given - corporate capture, ideological capture (eg. the way economics is taught) etc.
social.coop is a cooperatively-run corner of the Fediverse. The instance is democratically governed by its members, who generally share an interest in the co-op model, but topics of discussion range widely.
