I'm kind of sick of my newsfeeds being full of news and opinions from the USA that have less and less relevant to my life.

Has anyone around here heard of indie.host ? I am interested to get involved with projects like this for the US market

Ok guys, it's done. Gmail is a goner and the process of De-Googling my life is complete!

There is no universal copyright law for the streets. There can be no "GPL but for the streets", there is no instrument that allows you to reclaim what should be a citizen's public goods.
There's a million local and municipal laws, different in every city, that allows the uniform battle front of the "smart city" to proceed unimpeded against the people. It's ready-made divide and conquer.

CALL FOR P2P HOUSING IN NYC
๐Ÿ  ๐Ÿ—ฝ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Hi all ๐Ÿ‘‹
We are 2 french people coming to NYC for "The Peopleโ€™s Disruption" conference.

We'll be there from 09 Nov to 15 Nov.

Would be really nice if we could be hosted by friends, instead of ending on AirBNB. New York is really expensive.

Do you have a place to stay?
Tell us ๐Ÿ™‚
We can cook a quiche lorraine for you.

If you'd told me 10 years ago that I'd be working from home, on decentralised credentialing technology (Open Badges) while listening to Morrissey I would have laughed you out of the room.

Something people who are good with tech stuff need to remember, because all too often they don't.

What's obvious to you isn't what's obvious to everyone. Including the person you're talking to, who probably feels stupid because they haven't seen or understood this "obvious" thing.

Idea: people should work more towards achieving their own goals and stop telling others what to do to achieve theirs, how to represent, discuss, or name the things they do without having intimate knowledge of their decisionmaking process, their cultural backgrounds, and the particular situations, constraints, and settings in which they live.

It's incredibly offensive to assume they didn't/can't think it through before they made a decision.

It doesn't hurt to show some humility and ask first.

For UK-based peeps (or those willing and able to travel there :P ) - the Lab are doing a 3 day course in development.

I love the model (we registered using this as our foundation + I would likely recommend it again) - and it is really versatile.

Perfect for a UK co-operative start-up.
