I try to not use my title too much but in response to Zuck's recent speech:
As Queen of the Fediverse I officially declare Threads EXILED from our land
You are not welcome here, get the fuck out
(JUST IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW I don't actually consider myself Queen of the Fediverse this is a long-running joke because people started calling me that)
Meta may NOT, in fact, have a little ActivityPub, as a treat
Is it time for an Isolate Threads campaign
Get the fuck outta here Mark Muskerberg get the FUCK OUT
Meta, 5 years ago: "Boo hoo you gotta let us control all the social medias you couldn't trust anyone else to do it. Please regulate us, please make regulations that literally only we could comply with"
Meta 2 years ago: "Oh we're gonna join the fediverse"
Meta today: "We're 4chan now. We can't let Elon Musk have all the 4chan fun"
Get them outta here GET THEM OUT

@cwebber. I'll pass thanks!
@cwebber I admit I have been rather satisfied with my instance's firm stand on blocking interop with threads. (And bluesky, which is inconvenient but from an ethical standpoint I'm 100% good with)
@Pedr01gb My instance's policies are expressed in a bit of an absurdist way (https://weatherishappening.network/about) (which, full disclosure, I have nothing to do with, I'd probably be more dadaist or cubist) but given their funding sources and many of the initial founders, Bluesky falls firmly in the death spiral fascist category, so was defederated.
@wordshaper @cwebber ? Honest? What's your issue with ?
@wordshaper
The problem is that it’s not enough. you can block FBthreads™ to the fullest, but content from your instance can be boosted from an instance that does not block FBthreads™, which feeds FB and their users, rewarding FB and their serfs with your content.
#Activitypub is missing something. There is no technical mechanism to ensure being fully disconnected from the baddies.
@cwebber this looks like preemptive compliance with Project 2025, section 28 on FCC: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24088042-project-2025s-mandate-for-leadership-the-conservative-promise/
In particular, the move to TX looks like a reason to cozy up to TX HB 20 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_House_Bill_20), as suggested on p849.
This was brought to my attention by the lovely Yaseen, but evidently Facebook Chat has renamed their trans- and enby-themed chat options to 'harmless' variants. Co-opting the flags and taking them from our community. Isn't corporate pride great?
To quote Tailsteak, Facebook is for toy cows and racist uncles, and it's clear that's only intensified since. I see absolutely zero benefit in federating with them -- less than zero, really. It'd be a massive drain on moderators who've done this for a community project, and would only cause harm.
@cwebber given facebook was increasingly becoming associated with old people who don't know how to internet good, becoming the new 4chan is frankly a brilliant move on their part. sure is a better way for them to remain relevant than their stupid metaverse shit
but it's also so fucking obvious that i cannot believe anyone bought that they were going to be any better with threads. to believe them is incredibly stupid that it can only be willfully stupid
@cwebber I can only imagine the only reason Threads wasn't rejected outright by the likes of website boy is because it made them feel validated. finally fediverse was being respected by serious business after so long as being dismissed as a joke, a non-viable twitter clone
which is frankly just pathetic. nobody likes zuckerberg. nobody wants to be zuckerberg
@cwebber
If you’ve not seen it, I suggest finding the video of Roger Waters responding to Zuckerberg’s request to the right to use Another Brick in the Wall. It’s very theraputic.
This is the text of the story.. but really the video does some justice:
BTW, I try not to even use the hijacked term /threads/. I say FBthreads™ to clearly distinguish that garbage from a generic term we use in everyday language without intent to refer to a fiefdom.
At the same time, I see no problem with grouping Cloudflared Mastodon and Lemmy nodes with FBthreads™, because it’s all centralised in exclusive corporate walled gardens. All such enshitified networks should be condemned together.
@cwebber time to call the dragonriders
@djfiander @cwebber I find this comment to be highly inflammatory towards mycotrichoid organisms.
@log @djfiander @cwebber why?
mycotrichoid organisms always parasite the fun guys
@djfiander @cwebber And we can start clearing the area with some agenothree.
@cwebber The inventors of IRC invented the Q-line for a reason #krokodili
@cwebber way ahead of ya
@cwebber@social.coop @FediPact@cyberpunk.lol fedipact is rated cool by this floof
@sleepybisexual @FediPact
The problem is fedipact only creates 1 degree of separation. A non-fedipact node can connect to a fedipact node and boost content to FBthreads™. The other problem is FBthreads™ is one of many fiefdoms. The biggest walled garden is actually Cloudflare.
There is no refuge for those of us who want a network that completely severed from FBthreads™ and Cloudflare.
@davey_cakes mainly I just wanted to indicate that by explicitly saying that transpobia and racism is now allowed, #fedipact is now the same level of concern that Isolate Gab was
@cwebber @davey_cakes social.coop should re-evaluate its policy.
@cwebber I think this has been doing that for a while.
social.linux.pizza was among the very first instances to get banned by threads - after I asked them to lol
@FediGarden @tasket @cwebber @FediPact
I specifically moved to an instance that refused to federate with threads I know I'm not the only person to have done this.
@cwebber How do you block Threads on here?
@cwebber yes, even though I was banished from the evil empire for 'offences against 'community standards''. His community standards are so low he's filling the Meta sewage works on his own. A giant turd.
@cwebber Indeed.
See @jat23's Closing the Door to Remain Open: The Politics of Openness and the Practices of Strategic Closure in the Fediverse and the "Why the Anti-Meta Fedi Pact is good strategy for people who want the fediverse to be an alternative to surveillance capitalism" section of Should the Fediverse welcome its new surveillance-capitalism overlords? Opinions differ! for more about what's been done so far.
