I'm #hiring again!
Do you care about developer productivity? Do you want to help people make better software more easily and (hopefully) more quickly? That's what we're doing in the Release Engineering team at WMF.
I'm looking for candidates with wide varieties of backgrounds. The most important quality you possess is the ability to learn and a deep desire to make things better.
Join my team as a Software Engineer!
to boost, to toot;
to toot, perchance to meme - ay, there's the rub;
for in these boosts and toots what memes may come,
when we have logged off this federated coil,
must give us pause; there's the respect
that makes calamity of such Online life;
Maybe 3.5" is too constraining. Maybe 5.25" form factor instead?
Did you know that https://communitywiki.org/trunk exists?
It's a new project where you can find people in the Fediverse and follow them by topic.
Also, you can request to be included. It's a really cool idea.
If you are new to Mastodon or you are looking for more interesting people to follow, you should check it out.
Idea: "home compute infrastructure" rack standard based around 3.5" half height HD as a form factor. Combine it with a DC supply and connector standard of some sort.
On another note: I could really use some test/development phones for #fdroid related stuff. Anyone got an old Android phone lying around they would like to donate?
Doesn't matter much what version or flavour of android they are running as long as touchscreen/display/WiFi is still working they could be useful.
Model strandbeest - amazing bit of engineering!
The original team of the decentralized internet devroom at #FOSDEM is tired and want to step down because we are too tired and it would be great for another team or motivated energetic people to take the lead :)
It would be also great if this team can succeed where were failed: having a more divers panel of speakers.
Book idea (high effort, dunno if I'll do it): a survey of alternative computing systems in the style of Seven Languages in Seven Weeks. What should I include other than smalltalk, colorforth, oberon, templeos, and menuet?
Going forward, all new members who join our instance get a single message the next day with some helpful tips for getting started (how-to articles, app suggestions, etc).
These messages are sent as a DM, and only once, to avoid any sort of spamminess.
The entire project is open source and easy to deploy for other instances. https://github.com/indyhall/mastodon-welcome-bot
Enjoy, fediverse. And thank you for creating this @dave!
More like a painful lesson on how not to introduce your new instance to the fediverse.
I'm beginning to think Carmen Sandiego really did steal my motivation. :/
Previous boost is not meant as an endorsement.
I severely underestimated how angry people would get about being followed by a parody Taylor Swift account. 😆
My DMs and mentions are insane. Before you send more insults my way, or block my instance, I'd like to clear up a few things. 1/x
Interests: programming languages, open platforms, art, craft, diy, and justice. #nobot
social.coop is a a coop-run corner of the fediverse, a cooperative and transparent approach to operating a social platform. We are currently closed to new memberships while we improve our internal processes and policies, and plan to re-open to new folks when that work is complete. [9/2/2018]
