A mini-bio of the artist Rosa Bonheur

The November issue of Smithsonian Magazine has a good mini-bio of Rosa Bonheur. Great artist and a formidable personality who seems to have managed to live life on her terms. To give you an idea of the world she lived in, she was required to get a "cross-dressing permit" so she could wear pants instead of long dresses while making studies in the field.

It's possible I saw one of her pieces without knowing it while visiting an art museum in Cody, Wyoming years ago. I'm going to have to find more references to her work.
