I learned the etymology of economy

(from Greek οίκος – "household" and νέμoμαι – "manage")

from reading The Roots of Civilization by Abdullah Öcalan, whose vision and leadership inspires many of those fighting for liberation in (Northern Syria) right now.

He traces the way economics began in a feminine, home-making/caring way, was usurped by patriarchal forces and calls for a return to its original form of community care.
