it's not mandatory to put politics (of the current events sort) behind a cw, but some people prefer it. I tend to mute people who regularly post about politics without a cw. I read almost all the cw-ed politics in my feed, but without a cw it often feels like someone is yelling or selling at me, esp when they use lots of hashtags or caps. how do you all feel about politics cws?
@susannah From an entirely different POV, I also find the level of CW granularity on Mastodon to be waaay to high, to the degree that I'm annoyed and sometimes ignore people's work simply because I'm sick of clicking through CWs like "Thinking about pens" or "Lol meta". I prefer microstatus to be quick and easy to digest, not to have to individually consent to every thought-interaction. :)
