"I look at all the people in tech who are convinced they are saving the world, that what they do matters. When the money goes, and it will, that feeling will go with it."
I know I'm getting old and set in my ways because it annoys me when people use "blog" to mean "blog post" or "article", as in "i wrote a blog today".
Given that "blog" is short for "weblog", as in "web logbook", you cannot write a blog in a day. You run a blog, or maintain a blog, or write it over time. Not in one day, no.
But that's just me resisting the inevitable evolution of language. Like an old person. Blergh.

I just found out that "IndieWeb" is an actual movement/community around running your own homepage (and more), and I'm feeling simultaneously very old and ahead of the curve. (cf. https://indieweb.org/)
TIL that "Bullshit Receptivity" is an actual thing that scientists can measure.
I want to know the scores for all my prospective employers' leadership teams.
Very true, sadly.
RT @firstname.lastname@example.org There is something I've learned after years watching these startups though. When you're driven by rapid growth, you underestimate how much you'll have to compromise your values. People ignore that aspect. They pretend it's not happening. Self deception is a helluva drug.
RT @email@example.com: I owe my career to an endless parade of total strangers who took time out to teach me stuff and help me out, either indirectly or one on one in forums and chat rooms. I can't ever pay them back, so I do my best to pay it forward.

One of the trippy things about gaining insight into your own bullshit is the subsequent wonderment about how in the hell you managed to run around for so long without said insight, and occasionally about dear god what a fool you must have looked some of those times. #ruminations #perspective #TrueSelfIsNoSelf

...Uhm, hello? Anybody there?
I'm new here. I'm a software engineer living in SF Bay Area. Very curious about social.coop in particular and in general about better ways of interacting, working and being together and in society.
i see you | builder of things | steward of teams | I 💗 people and cats | she/her | working to be a better human every day | hugs offered | http://anaulin.org
social.coop is a cooperatively-run corner of the Fediverse. The instance is democratically governed by its members, who generally share an interest in the co-op model, but topics of discussion range widely.
Our instance is supported by sliding scale contributions of $1-10/mo made via Open Collective. You must have an active Open Collective account to apply for membership; you may set one up here
