Can't I just be whatever gender I feel like on any given day, hour, moment? Why do I have to pick one (of two) and spend the rest of my days living and perfecting its expression?
@iona 'Why do we need to be a gender at all?' is my question. Seems to me like we go through an awful lot of heartache trying to figure out which abstract human concept best expresses our identity rather than just...being who we are. Why we gotta put a label on everything, you know? #justsayin
@Laurelai @iona Who said anything about not acknowledging it? I acknowledge everyone I know in whichever way they want.
I'm just saying that the whole concept of gender came out of a patriarchal way of viewing the world, so maybe we would be better ditching it altogether, rather than trying to fit ourselves into it. That's just a thought I had, not a claim about how anyone or everyone needs to think.
