Greg ๐ŸŒน @Greg

tl;dr: I'm working to setup a install locally with a very old (2015) mysql dump to export and import into .

I'm trying out (varyingvagrantvagrants.org/) to do this. Seems pretty nice. We use Vagrant for local development (mediawiki.org/wiki/Mediawiki-v).

I didn't get as far as I wanted last night so I'll give it some more time this afternoon/over the break.

Anything I should be wary of?

@Greg hmmm, things I always need to recall about #VVV:

1. wp-cli is available, via
2. vagrant ssh
3. github.com/bradp/vv

That last one might now apply to your scenario, although it might, depending on if your mysql dump needs an older version of #WordPress installed. ^_^

@maiki I probably do need a very old version installed :) I was just hoping WP was smart enough to do all the schema updates for me when it saw how dang old my db was :)

@Greg I bet it will mostly be okay. You are concerned about the content side, and those tables haven't changed much.

But, if you run into any trouble (and yer passwords are hashed and/or invalid), feel free to drop yer db on me, I can probably get you sorted. ^_^

@maiki pretty nice! I'm mid-provision of a 3.7.11 install (my dump is from a few months before that release). Let's see how this goes!

@maiki grrr,

Warning: Illegal string offset 'hosts' in /srv/www/default/index.php on line 84

(from the vvv.test dashboard for my "dump" site. dump.dev doesn't work, due to it)

@Greg Ah, bummer. Such a generic error, too.

You know, try loading your database into the latest version.

I'd try that, before dropping VVV.

It might work, but I totally forgot a bigger update in the last couple of years: PHP has gone up. And I think VVV ships with the near latest and greatest.

@maiki a little further...

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.

VVV WHAT IS YOUR JOB?!

(oddly just for this one site, not the other default ones from VVV)

@Greg ha, got further than me! Apparently VVV had a major update, and silly me, not even paying attention is git pull-ing and thinking I will jump in...

So after update VirtualBox **and** Vagrant I am finally provisioning... ๐Ÿ˜œ
