Gut check me: can I buy a too big of a #solar charge controller? I'm planning to get a 40amp MPPT one but I only plan to buy 100-200 watts right away. Is that dumb for some reason I haven't thought of?

I've got a fair bit of experience with this size system and found the newer (released a couple of years back) Tracer 4215bn controllers are v nice & cheap for the quality/functionality.
Can program to suit your use and your batteries.

Gut checked in another medium (IRC FTW) and the answer is: no reason to not buy big. Just think about wire gauge if wiring is hard and I'm planning to go bigger amperage later (ie: wire big if planning on it and it's hard to wire).
