Edurne @Gin

Good warning for social.coop “Designed or planned social order is necessarily schematic; it always ignores essential features of any real, functioning social order ... the simplified rules animating plans for, say, a city, a village or a collective farm were inadequate as a set of instructions for creating a functional social order, The formal scheme was parasitic on informal processes that, alone, it could not create or maintain.”
― James C. Scott, Seeing Like a State

@Gin interesting. which ways do you see it applying?

@rbenjamin

Being a member of a decentralised organisation has its own set of unique responsibilities: one of them is to keep an eye out for any 'wasted potential' rhetoric used to set up parasitic processes that centralise power and decision making.

It's no different for social.coop.

@Gin do you see complete decentralization as the optimal state and any centralization the antithesis?

And what about formalized process? Is that a form of centralization?
