I appreciate the image descriptions†, and also that some people can't do them, so boosting both posts works okay for me.
†because my uncorrected vision is terrible, many of my mutuals are blind, and I read fedi on a text mode device
@HauntedOwlbear @Eliot_L I understand, and I understood this about Mastodon when I joined. I can describe text paragraph on a background, but anything more than that sends me into a small panic. Just for the sake of my own comfort this is a hit I knew I would have to take with the community. I don't see it changing either.
@HauntedOwlbear @Eliot_L This applies in real life too. I just can't describe things, and I often don't even remember visual details. I've lived at the address I currently reside in since 2009, and I couldn't tell you what color my house is.

@HauntedOwlbear @Eliot_L No, no. I was just expanding on my originally brief reply. I couldn't remember if I ever expressed this on here before, and it's probably better if I put it in writing.
@dosnostalgic you've mentioned it in passing, but I'm glad you're feeling more comfortable about explaining it in general.
@HauntedOwlbear @dosnostalgic Yeah, it's OK, and I appreciate the explanation. This is just a common ask I make in this situation as a lot of people just don't know about stuff like this coming from platforms where it was not the norm, so it can be helpful to inform them. But situations like these are exactly why #Alt4You exists, and I don't mind adding it when I boost a post with no alt text. It's just harder to add more detailed descriptions due to char limits.
