Nearly 7 hours after dropping eldest child at hospital, she is now radioactive.

Sadly no spider or ensuing super powers 🀣

CT Scan, and **still** waiting to find out what they think and if/when we can escape her. But they are being thorough, which is important. πŸ‘

Would have been useful to have known the timescale *before* turning up. Just a warning that this is likely to be all day rather than a couple of hours, so we could have planned accordingly πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
Only one could go in with her.

Out foraging in the wet.
So warm, but then huge downpours, and warm again.

This amphibian didn't seem to mind the moisture at all though 🐸

Not had much time to look at what photos were on the camera.
Just done an import.

A couple from a batch we have to go through.

Had a notion of using it for a personal fediverse instance (static IP at home) but as a test bed it's way too weak for even just playing with setups.

Especially when an old Aspire R3600 cost Β£35 second hand.
Low power consumption, 4GB RAM, space for a decent size HD of which we have a drawer full of.
(Might SSD it though)

Looked at various distros, but know despite the lowly Atom 230 CPU, Gentoo for our familiarity at setup/security will probably be it
Can always use the big machine for distcc

Armbian on a SOC (s905x 1GB RAM) that was a cheap Android TV box was an interesting challenge.
Pulled out of a drawer when we saw the price of a Raspberry Pi these days. Which are getting ever more capable, but ever more expensive.

Running reliably headless and capable of serving web/dns it seems. Occasionally sluggish over SSH, which is probably due to scaling back the CPU to save power when not needed.

Going to set it up as a PiHole failover, as when that goes down, the household shouts 😝

Yesterday we sat outside the hospital, as they decided to run another ECG before letting the eldest child out. So could not retrieve her until they were done.

The bench we found is part of a bicycle repair station.

A cool selection of tools, a big track pump and a stand. All bolted/wired into place.
All with posters of basic fixing and safety check information.

Rather cool idea.
When we trained as a Sustrans ride leader, we heard of them, but this is our first encounter in the flesh πŸ‘

Came across a lighthouse sculpture outside a charity shop in a local town earlier today.
Seems that according to the local press, there is going to be a bunch of them around.
Have to say some designs are much more vibrant than others. πŸ˜ƒ
Quite like the one we found though.

Fifty stunning lighthouse sculptures are being installed this week, ready for the launch of Clan's spectacular Light The North art trail.

It's the thing, that we have had to come to terms with.
Even the good stuff can be exhausting when it's relentless change and unpredictability.

Oh, for the rest that comes with routines 🀣 🀣 🀣

Not been about much.
Far too busy and overloaded.

Fell of a small cliff*, been travelling, built some stuff, hacked together lots of tech, climbed and swam new spots.
Lots of other stuff in there that has drained us utterly.

To top it off, eldest is in hospital after coughing up blood. Should be fine, asthma + panic attack, but being x-rayed and bloods done.

Holidays are exhausting, so have a shrew 🐭

*(All good, only about 15ft onto a steep slope with associated tumbling. Walked out fine)

hrt, poll

if you're using or have used estradiol gel, did it ever cause itching on the application site? if so, what did you end up doing?

In case you weren’t aware, here’s one of the many ways unregulated electronics bought online can be dangerous. A regulation Australian IEC cable must have 3x 0.75mmΒ²+ double-insulated stranded copper conductors. This cable appears to meet that requirement at first glance β€” it’s marked that way on the outside, and cutting in, the PVC colours are wrong but otherwise appear okay.

But then, scrape some of the copper, and it suddenly turns silver. It’s CCA, or Copper-Clad Aluminium. A sneaky and cheap but worse conductor. The aluminium holds up much worse to corrosion and bending, and will crumble to powder inside the cables over time. Through this process it will increase its resistance, turning into a fire-starter. Very dangerous and invisible without destroying the cable to examine it. #safety #psa

I've been reading a lot of speculative poetry recently, and this is the result. I have dreams of writing a whole collection of SF love poems... Maybe one day.

Yay to picking 1.5kg of chanterelles.

Boo to having to clean and prepare 1.5kg of chanterelles.

😝

Still got about 500g left to do...

Hello down there, may I be your friend?

He is font of ancient wisdom. Sadly he chose dingbats as his font.
