Cannot disagree with much of this in essence.
So glad our family friend moved back here from, not far from the troubles last week. She was far enough to be safe, but not convinced it will not spread as conditions allow it going forward.

Because of course they do...
No surprises ever any more, just inevitably depressing lurches further towards intolerance 🤷‍♀️

First phrase that came to mind this morning...

"Quite a few are going to be gleefully draping themselves in a masturbatory flag in anticipation of an impending wargasm."

Just heard Ben Bradley described on a podcast along the lines of "MP for Nuts Magazine & Loaded North" 🤣

Oh FFS.
This shit is so normal now, it's beyond parody.

Independence is needed so we can have some actual proper voting on this sort of stuff.

Unlike Westminster elections, there is a much better chance of getting Green Party MSPs in power, and hence some voices/balance.

The *shame* is, we will give both our main and list vote to the SNP next, because green measures have to follow independence.
However, once secured, we will swap over in turn.

Fantastic work, and a truly sublime name...

Conservative government approved tests:
☑️Tests to see if you're British enough
☑️Tests to see if 6 year olds are brainy enough
☑️Tests to see if their teachers work hard enough
☑️Tests to see if you're poor enough
☑️Tests to see if your house is small enough
☑️Tests to see if you're trying hard enough
☑️Tests to see if you're disabled enough

Conservative government rejected tests:
❎WHO recommended testing processes

A politician that understands how numbers work really inspires confidence. Unfortunately we have Priti Patel...

She also issued the classic non-apology.
"I'm sorry if people feel there have been failings"
So not sorry for any actual failings...

Doctors have asked well wishers to stop.
Boris keeps hiding in them, and it makes treating him much harder.

Well, Matt Hancock made us chuckle today with his counting 🤦🤣

You do need sound to appreciate the dissonance between the mouth and hand...

Now is the time to start having the conversations about universal basic income.

Or we could just talk about bailing out the air industry, who will not be paying some staff while they are on the ground, even if they as a business get help.

No business should receive support, *unless* they are passing that on to their staff.

But actually, just bypassing that all with UBI would be easier and better.

Just a bit that we have seen about Sabisky today.
In about 15 years of teaching we have probably taught and got to know upwards 2000 young people.

Sadly, one or two of them died prematurely. It happens sadly.
But, you know what.

Not ONE single kid we ever taught deserved to die 😡

“From a societal perspective, the benefits of giving everyone modafinil once a week are probably worth a dead kid once a year,” Mr Sabisky told the magazine.

My wife just sent me this photo of the bus window.

Someone local has been at work 👍

It wasn't even us 😝 Though we have other plans 😉

Alistair Jack, Secretary of State for Scotland on BBC Radio Scotland this morning.

Responding to the UK being called "a voluntary union of nations" uttered these words:

"I completely disagree with that"

Truth will out.

European Union -> No interference preventing the Brexit referendum.

UK (Voluntary Union?) -> Scotland not "permitted" to hold a referendum.

Audio clip:

(I cannot figure out a container for audio so self hosted)

The contempt is disgusting.

Walk out of Tory MPs, then Johnson playing with his phone. When called out on it asks for Blackford to "say something more interesting".

Called out by an SNP MP who is quite right when he says "looking at his phone is more interesting than hearing what Scotland needs. Doesn't that tell you everything about this Prime Minister and his view of Scotland"

If you were not quite sure that Scotland wasn't actually a separate country, well this map kind of shows it...

I know we are attached by land and we speak the same basic language, but don't be fooled by that.

I'm in a Conservative area 😬 , but the Tories only edged it by 843 votes.

SNP took 81% of the seats up here.

The Tories took 57% in the rest of the UK.
In England the Tories took 64.5% of the seats.
In Scotland the Tories took 10% of the seats.

Tangential to previous Toots.

Watching people elsewhere talk about voting.

If you turn your back on the harms done to people and allow your vote to enable people that are racist, homophobic, misogynistic...

Well then you can say you are not all of those things, but really you are not any better in our eyes.

Stand up and be counted.

I am reminded of the Karl Popper cartoon...
